DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A SPONSORED BLOG POST AND I RECEIVED PRODUCTS HEREIN WERE PROVIDED BY NATURAL AREA RUGS. AS ALWAYS HERE AT NAPTIME TALES, OUR THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS ARE OUR OWN.
It’s been 2.5 years since we moved into our PA house. I thought that moving into a brand new house would be less projects but turns out I was dead wrong. I’ve painted almost our entire main floor and a decent chunk of our upstairs. We’ve added board and batten to our dining room and a bench/cubby/storage system to our mud room. Our most recent project was a last minute decision to finish our basement (seriously who does that?!) which turned out amazing and I’m so happy we pulled the trigger on hiring someone to do the bulk of the work. Our house feels more “us” with every project but we have a very big one hanging over our heads and I can’t say I’m thrilled.
We moved to PA in a big hurry so although we live in a new construction neighborhood, we were not able to build our house. It worked out well that the builder had our home as a quick delivery available immediately. Honestly, there isn’t a ton I’d change (man I wanted white cabinets but maybe someday I’ll get over it) but the wood throughout our main floor is definitely a big fat flop. We have the worst quality of wood floors ever made and it is something I have to look at all day, everyday.
Fortunately we are able to cover up the main areas with area rugs but many of you know that I like selecting area rugs just about as much as I like picking out paint colors. Which is -1,000 on a scale of 1-10. I rugs are an investment and commitment – it’s important to get the right size, color, texture etc. We have a dog and kids to worry about but my main concert is the love of my life, Roger. He is a very important part of this house, he’s lived with us for over a year and not a day goes by where I don’t thank my lucky stars for him. Oh you don’t know about Roger? He is our Roomba – he cleans the floors every night and every piece of furniture or rug we by has to be approved for his use.
Insert a sweet email we got from Natural Area Rugs. I must have been putting out some vibes because they offered to send me a rug for my office- which was next on my house project list. Obviously I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to work with them, they have a beautiful selection of sea grass, jute and many more rugs that I thought would be perfect for under my desk. I selected the Maritime Natural Seagrass rug in Sage Khaki and sat by my window for a few days longing for UPS to drop off my package.
My rug came really quick AND included a free pad (all their rugs do!). I was not expecting the package to be so heavy but I managed to drag it into my foyer and rolled out the pad and rug to get the “waves” out.
This rug is beautiful and surprisingly soft for a natural rug. I was expecting it to be a little rough on bare feet but it isn’t! It took a few days for it to flatten out and by the time I was ready to move it I couldn’t. I did not intend to keep in in the foyer but it fit so perfectly and has been great for catching snow/salt from my daughter’s shoes when she comes home from school. Before I had just a small door mat, I couldn’t bare the thought of going back to it after this upgrade.
The best part about this rug, besides the fact that it’s soft, is that Roger has no problem cleaning it. I don’t have to worry about it fraying because the binding is solid and the sea grass party is tightly woven. It is the kind of rug that, even in this high traffic area, will last awhile.
I also love that it covers most of the foyer. There is plenty of room for wet shoes and it protects our terrible floors from the weather. It also keeps little feet prints and watermarks off the wood – our bathroom is right off the foyer and my kids love to leave it with dripping wet hands!
If you are in the market for a new rug I would highly suggest Natural Area Rugs. There custom service is wonderful- even willing to take the time and measure the thickness of sevearl rugs I liked to make sure Roger would clear them. The shipping is fast, you get a free pad with each rug you purchase and their prices are SUPER reasonable for the quality they off. Big thumbs up from me!!
