To keep or not to keep…that is today’s question. Do you keep your kids’ baby teeth? Or does the Tooth Fairy take them away?
I have a major problem with compulsive pitching. If something is in my way and we don’t need it- I’ll throw it away or put it in a forever growing pile of “donate” stuff in our basement. I don’t keep a lot of art projects, I don’t keep little tiny Dollar Store toys that get wedged between couch cushions and have been long forgotten…I don’t keep broken crayons and half used sticker sheets. It’s bad, I know I have a problem (I fully blame my mother but that’s a whole other blog post).
Now my “baby” girl started losing her teeth and I’m stuck between throwing those disgusting little pieces of bone away never to been seen again or keeping them like a total psychopath.
The first one popped out at school so she got a commemorative tooth box and a pat on the back from the nurse. Cool…now we have a safe place to put all those baby teeth. She was so proud!
So proud, in fact, that she left a note for the tooth fairy asking her to leave the tooth behind. She wanted to keep it “a little while longer”.
I didn’t mind thinking that said tooth would be picked up at the next visit. But then girlfriend lost two MORE teeth last night. That’s right…at 10 PM we were putting the final touches on that toothless grin. She was excited about it after the emotional trauma of pulling two teeth died down. Today she’s all smiles-
But what do I do with these teeth? She didn’t want the Tooth Fairy to come last night because *gasp* now we are missing her tooth box. She was playing with it downstairs one day and her little brother grabbed it. Lord knows where it is now! Who plays with TEETH anyway? Don’t they have enough crap to play with?
So now I have a decision to make- when the original lost tooth gets found, do I pitch it? When the tooth fairy comes to reward her for a job well done on two she lost last night, does she “take” them or leave them?
Do I sew them into a doll? (Just kidding. I can’t even.)
Do I send them into an Etsy shop like Rock My World Inc and have a necklace made? (Is that supposed to look like a flower?)
