This has become such a bitter sweet tradition in our household. The good news is the kids’ colored shirt photos are becoming fun for them which means we are almost over that “I dread taking pictures of my own kids” stage. This year I was able to do one on one with Jack making the photos even more special. Daddy was at work and sissy was at school- it was just my baby boy, me and a hand full of Skittles. Oh and the dogs, which I had to crop out of EVERY. SINGLE. PICTURE.
If you are a new follower and haven’t gotten up to speed with Ash B’s colored shirt photos, check out this blog to get caught up.
I thought about removing the shadows in these shots but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. He’s very aware of his shadow all of a sudden. A few weeks ago we were walking back from getting Layla on the bus and he said “Mommy, my shadow wants to hug your shadow”. I was tired and just wanted to get home but when your kid says something as sweet as that, you drop everything and make sure your shadows hug.
Although I want sitting up or standing photos for his official picture (these go at the end of their yearly photos books), this is by far my favorite shot of him this year. Those cheeks and his double chin in this picture are 100% Jack. I know he’ll loose that baby look this year as he gets closer to 4, I’m so glad I was able to capture it in his orange shirt.
I can’t decide between these two and I can’t decide if I should keep his hair a mess or tame it a bit. I think the one on the right is more “Jack”, but I never get teeth smiles so I really like the left photo too! FYI- he’s holding an orange Skittle in both shots and has a couple in his mouth haha. 🙂
And here we are- from 40 weeks to 3 years old. What a journey it has been! I can’t wait to see what changes we are in for this year (but please let him ALWAYS have that dimple!).
