Moving to a new city/state can be tough. You have to find a house, change all your utilities, check out schools, map the local grocery store and find a photographer. What? Finding a photographer wasn’t on your last “to do for move” list?
I’ve been wanting to do a lifestyle photo shoot for our family for awhile. Lifestyle shoots are something I love to do as a photographer and I have tons of pictures of my own kids in their element, but none of us as a family. I felt a little bit like a hypocrite after publishing this post last year and talking up these types of sessions to my own clients. So “find a photographer” was put on my moving to do list, we were getting this DONE once we were in the new house.
I found Katie at Katie Hall Creative and loved her style. It’s hard to book a photographer when you are one yourself, but Katie fit right along with our family. She spent a few hours with us in our home capturing us just as we are. I didn’t spend hours stressing about our outfits or a location and the kids were in their element. Heck, Layla’s hair was still wet for the first half of our session. It was awesome, lifestyle shoots ROCK guys.
We made pancakes, played in our rooms, read a book and snuggled as a family. We had so much fun and I love the way these photos turned out. There was very little posing and not as much bribing as usual…the kids will never allow a “normal” photo session again. I’m OK with that, this is more “us”.
If you are doing family pictures this year (please, DO family pictures this year) definitely consider doing a lifestyle shoot. And get IN THOSE PICTURES Mommas!
And thanks to Katie Hall Creative for capturing our crazies!
