I feel like this topic is turning into the never ending story for us. I’m SO sick of potty training. We started in January…shouldn’t we be DONE with this by now?! Just when I think my guy has it, he regresses. I’ve heard everything from “it’s common to take a few steps back” to “he’s not ready” and “just relax”.
I started training Jack early because I thought he’d be too little for the power struggle. I thought he’d want to be a big boy and get joy out of seeing us excited about it. WRONG! The only thing this boy gets joy out of is seeing the look on our faces after he’s gone 5 days without an accident and then pees on the couch. Forget being too little for the power struggle and manipulation, I think potty training just taught him these things early. Don’t start too early, but you also can’t start too late…you can’t win my friends! And half a year later, this is how we still feel about potty training:
