Since we have SO MUCH free time during ‘nap time’ and after the kids go to bed, we like to make a little pocket change off our blog posts occasionally…to afford lip gloss, wine, and boots=) So FYI we were given a box in exchange for a review post on Citrus Lane but all of the thoughts and opinions in this post are totally mine. Totally.
My kiddos got an awesome deliver last week from Citrus Lane. This service is so much fun and a great gift idea (hint hint to the Grandma and Grandpa’s out there).
Here’s how it works- you sign up for a subscription via the Citrus Lane website. If you click on our links you get 50% off your first box if you choose a monthly, 3 month, 6 month or 1 year subscription. The rates on these are already pretty low for what you get…a 1 year subscription is only $19 a month!
Citrus Lane will then send you a box each month for the duration of your subscription. The box is filled with a few select items for you and your child. They work with a ton of hot brands like Melissa and Doug, Plum Organics, Skip Hop and Baby Bjorn (see a full list here). Each box you receive will have different items and one of the coolest things about this service is you are able to customize by your child’s age!
We were able to have a sneak preview of a box for my little guy. He’s 20 months and here’s how it went-
The box was delivered and I let him play with it for 20 minutes while I made lunch. You guys…even an unopened Citrus Lane box is FUN. LOL
It also makes a great step or sitting stool.
Ok so I decided to finally let him open it with the help of big sister and the dogs. Warning- there may or may not be a food item in your box!! So if you have pets that like to sneak kid food, take the necessary precautions.
The packaging for our box was super cute. Everything was put in there with care right down to the little curly brown “grass”. More on that later…but the kids had fun taking each item out and exploring.
They even include a nice little cheat sheet for us parents. If you see something you like in your box that you’d like to order more of, they give you that info! How awesome is that?! AND they even include discount codes for some of the stuff. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.
Here is what we got in our box- a sippy cup from Skip Hop, a cute puzzle with a nice plastic case, 2 Plum Organics snack bars, a wet bag and “special offer” from Third Love ($20 off a $40 purchase towards bras for Mommy). I tried to get a nice picture and Jack decided he’d place things where HE thought they should go-
I think MY personal favorite thing out of the box was the sippy cup. It was fun to try a few new granola bars from Plum (he loved them so I will be picking some up the next time I go to the store). My daughter liked the puzzle more than my little guy did-
I THOUGHT he was helping her with the puzzle but when I turned around he was just spreading the 10 lbs of “grass” that was put in the package. That is my only compliant to Citrus Lane…enough with the paper shreds! LOL. They didn’t add anything to the packaging of our box (maybe with some packages they need it to keep things from shifting?) and I had to dig it out of my 20 month old’s mouth. But I guess you could say that kept him busy for awhile…it may have been worth it. Haha!
Overall I really like the idea of this service! It is not something that I would buy for my own kids but this is a seriously great gift for a new mommy or for the kids that have everything. Big thumbs up from this house!

And on the topic of kids that have everything…we’ve been thinking about our “non toy” gift ideas for Christmas season (it’s right about the corner Moms eeeeekkkk). Anyone have any other great gift ideas for the kids that aren’t toys?
