It is hard to believe that for 2.5 weeks I have been a mom of three.
And, I am FINALLY able to sneak away from chaos for long enough to upload some pictures so I can share our birth story.
I woke up with the same fabulous, intense contractions every 10 minutes for 4 hours that I have been sporting for over a month. Then, they stop. SO frustrating. I had a doctors appointment that morning at 11am so I was excited to see how I was progressing and talk to the doctor about what was going on with the relentless false alarms. As the doctor was checking me I was SHOCKED to find out I was only a “DUCKING” ONE!! WTF….after all that contracting I was STILL a one. I was going to be 39 weeks on the 13th so she did me a huge favor and stripped my membranes for me. She promised it would get things going and IF I didn’t have the baby over the weekend she scheduled an induction for me the next week at 39.5 weeks. Praise God there was an end in sight!
A day of laboring:
And how I really felt…
I told my husband I needed the day to rest. We had our babysitter come over and play with the kids while I went upstairs to sleep and rest…which didn’t happen because as soon as I laid down the contractions started again. By 4pm they were intense. Going from every 10 minutes to every 6 minutes. I called the nurse on-call at 6pm and she suggested taking a warm bath. If they got worse then I should go into the hospital. If the subsided then it was my body playing mean tricks on me. TG they got worse. Now, every 5 minutes. At 8pm we left for the hospital with our fingers crossed. I was NOT going to do the walk of shame!!
Last pictures as family of FOUR…between contractions…
Guess what I was when I was checked?? A measly TWO. And unless your water has broke or you are a three they will not admit you. They had me hooked up the machines and my contractions were strong and now every 2 minutes. The sweet nurse had me walk the halls for an hour. It was the most painful walk of my life. And after laboring in my back for an hour I finally broke down and cried. Because #1: it hurt so freaking bad and #2: I was NOT going home!!
My one hour was up. I laid on the bed and prayed. I could not go home in this much pain. I needed an epidural STAT. TG I was a FOUR!!! …this is when it gets interesting. I got checked at 10pm. If I wanted that epidural before midnight I had to walk through my contractions to the L/D room and get my epidural stat because an emergency c-section just came in. DONE. I was in so much pain and shaking fiercely because I was so nervous, but by 10:20 I was in pure bliss. The nurses and doctors were AMAZING! It was a tense situation, but they all remained so calm!
At midnight my doctor came in to break my water. At 2am the nurse came into check me. I was a 7. As she was entering information in the computer I started to feel more pressure so she checked me again and I was a 8 by 2:05. By 2:15 I was feeling MORE pressure so I paged the nurse. I was a 10!! I did one practice push and the baby crowned. YAY!! My doctor came in at 2:20 and set everything up. At 2:30 I did one more solid push and the baby was coming. Two more easy pushes and he was born!!
My sweet baby boy. It was the most amazing, easy, enjoyable births I could ever imagine.
And this team of nurses and doctor were so wonderful! Surprisingly, it was the SAME team that delivered Grayden 5 1/2 years ago!!
He is perfect!!
Baby Braylon Maverick was born at 2:37am on June 13th, weighing 7pounds and 19.5″ long.
