It has been a loooooong winter and now that school is out we have tons of free time to do whatever we want. While we were stuck inside this winter I promised myself I would not waste a single second of nice weather (all 3 weeks of it that we get in Michigan). We have a lot of projects coming up that will help us make the most of our outdoor space but for now here are a few things we’ll be doing-
I’ve stocked up on Popsicles. At some point I’d like to make some of our own but I have been too busy being OUTSIDE to want to make them. My goal is to eat 1,000 Popsicles this summer. OK so that’s a little steep but we WILL have one every day! Because it’s summer and we can.
We
also plan on doing story time at our local library and garden this
summer. Plus LOTS of zoo trips on nice days, local museum trips on rainy
days.

My daughter learned how to ride a big girl bike this year (finally…that’s a whole blog in itself) so we’ve take at LEAST a 1 mile ride every day. One day I got a little carried away and we went 2.5 miles. I didn’t realize how far we’d gone until she said “Mommy…I’m SO tired, my legs can’t go much more” on our way home. Oops! I just want to take full advantage of being outside while the weather is nice!
It is still a little cool in Michigan so we haven’t broken out the kiddie pool yet. But we HAVE enjoyed playing in our Little Tykes water table. This was a new toy this year and have been the BEST investment. It’s the perfect height for my 18 month old (who is actually the size of a 2-2.5 year old…he’s a mega man) and my daughter still likes to play with it too! She especially likes the cannon water gun that she can squirt AT her brother.
Our BIG projects we have planned this summer are a complete back patio redo AND swingset build. I have a feeling these will be huge headaches as we get into it but will be totally worth it in the end. Over the last couple of weeks we’ve been sitting out pretending we have a new (bigger) patio.
Oh summer…how I’ve missed you over the last 8 months! I promise not to complain about it being hot for ONE. SECOND. and to be outside as much as possible!! What are YOU doing this summer?
