Oh Mother’s Day…A day to celebrate US.
A day to rest-be pampered-and let our husbands do ALL the work….
We are supposed to get a break from wiping butts, getting spit up on, and doing all of our ‘day to day’ duties. At least this is the expectation I set for myself. I imagined sitting in a chair with my feet propped up, sunbathing, and not doing a damn thing for an entire day. I imagined being fanned by a half naked man who resembled Channing Tatum. I would get oiled down with a lovely massage, have a chef come in and cook me an amazing dinner with a delicious dessert AND clean the mess, all the while having a house cleaning crew scrub my house from top to bottom. Since it was Mother’s Day I, of course, would want to see my kids and husband; they would be playing in the yard nicely so I could watch from a distance while flipping through my magazines and sipping on sparkling water out of a wine glass.
That was a nice day dream…
In actuality it was a nice day~I really did do a whole lot of nothing. I slept in. Watched the kids play, took a nap, and had a delicious dinner and organized my daughters bedroom (a task I have been wanting to tackle for a while).
The day before we went to the Morton Arboretum for maternity pictures and then had a nice lunch.
(Here I am on actual Mothers Day “watching my kids play from afar”…I ended up getting bubbles spilled ALL over me as I was sipping my sparkling water with dead bugs in the glass.)
Earlier in the week my husband sent me DELICIOUS Shari’s Berries! (I am still eating these!!)
And Ashley B didn’t take many pictures from Mother’s Day but here she is with my sweetest little niece and nephew. She is loved!!
