A few weeks ago we were having a bad day. I’m talking B-A-D day. One of those days where, as a stay at home Mom, you just want to start filing your resume with anyone that will take you. We all have them, especially with this cold winter. It doesn’t feel like we’ve left the house in 6 months and my kids are bouncing off the walls.
My daughter loves crafts so I can easily entertain her by throwing colored construction paper, scissors and a few broken crayons her way. My son…not so much. He’s 16 months and into everything. The only way he’d be entertained at this point is me letting him climb on our counter and play with our knife set. I had to think of something and FAST.
My cousin posted a picture of her little one (almost the same age as my Jack) playing outside with cool whip “paint” on FaceBook a few days before. She just mixed the topping with food coloring and let her go to town. It was a super cute and easy idea so we decided to give it a try. Only one problem…she lives in sunny Florida and it was 20 degrees up here in Michigan. My solution- shower painting.
I thew a towel down so my little guy wouldn’t slide all over the place and told them to paint the walls. They both had a ton of fun!
It kept them busy for about 20 minutes…pure heaven. My bathroom smelled like sugar for the rest of the day until I accidentally let my dogs in and they licked half of it off (easy clean up I guess?). Thanks for the idea Natalie! Maybe next time we can play outside. You know, in July. 🙂
