It feels like I just made the big announcement on here that I was pregnant! My “little” guy turned 1 on November 20th. It goes so much faster with the second…this year has been a total whirlwind.
We had the opportunity to go home to IL to celebrate his first birthday and Thanksgiving last week. It was so nice to see our family and friends. Since getting pregnant with J, we haven’t had much opportunity to go down there. We’ve only been down twice in the last year…makes me sad!
We decided to have a “Mr. Man” birthday party because it is so Jack. I had LOTS of help…my Mother in law (Ash W’s Momma) gets all the credit for the decor. She’s SO creative and talented. We took inspiration from this adorable party and ran with it-
My Mom (who is also very creative and talented!) did the cookie favors for Jack’s party. They look pretty and they taste AMAZING. You can check out her blog at Tami Rena’s Cookies. You really should click the link because she has a hilarious picture of my daughter holding the mustache cookies on a stick that I didn’t get a picture of. Shame on me!
My friend Jessica (again…so talented! I surround myself with all the right people) did the cakes for us. They were also super delicious and gorgeous. I didn’t get a great picture of our invitation but you can see it framed in the background here…
I love that little swirly candle.
My Mom’s friend Elizabeth at Pretty Sweet Designs did all the printable for us. She’s pretty, you guessed it, creative and talented. LOL. She designed the invitation, banner, thank you and water bottle labels. There were a few other extras included in her design package but we didn’t get around to using them. She was so great to work with…thanks Elizabeth! Be sure to check out her Etsy shop.
My mother in law cute out bow ties for place mats out of wrapping paper and the mustaches using her Circuit. She did popcorn balls as favors and the kids LOVED the funny nose/glasses favors (from Hobby Lobby).
We decorated the mantle with pictures of the birthday boy and another banner designed by my Mom in law.
We used more pictures on the gift table. My MIL even found a cute mustache notebook to write his gifts in.
The birthday boy wore jeans and an adorable onesie I purchased off Etsy. It is hard to see in this picture (he would NOT stay still!) but the bow tie is snap on. Seriously…too cute! Check out SewLovedBaby on Etsy, all her stuff is adorable and very reasonably priced.
We had to change outfits for his smash cake because I knew he’d dig in and I didn’t’ want his onesie to get stained. I didn’t want him in just a diaper so I made another Etsy purchase, this time from Seams2U. Nothing like a chubby birthday boy in a chevron diaper cover eating cake.
We used it for his smash cake session at home too!
Now it is time to start planning my daughter’s 4th birthday. It’s in less than a month and I have NOTHING done…yickes!
