#1- Sound spa: If you are struggling with getting your baby to sleep and haven’t seen Happiest Baby on the Block, you need to watch it now. The pediatrician is craaaaazy, but his “5 S’s” work. It’s like total voodoo to get your baby to sleep. One of the recommendations is to have a white noise machine (we have this one from Homedics) in your child’s bedroom. Turn this sucker up full blast and your baby will enjoy a nice slumber.
can also hold your wipes and a few of the smaller things we seem to need all the time (think fingernail clippers, teething tabs and extra pacifiers).
? I honestly didn’t think I would use this pillow much…it just looked like a king sized travel pillow. My Boppy quickly became my best friend, it makes nursing so easy/comfortable, especially when you’ve had a csection. It also came in handy when my second was born- the Boppy made it so much easier for big sis to hold the new baby.
#9- Rocker: We spent the most amount of our nursery budget on our rocker. I felt silly doing it at the time but I knew we’d spend a lot of time in it. It was SO worth the investment and has lasted us through 2 babies. I would suggest getting an ottoman or foot stool, especially if you are going to nurse your little one. Look for a rocker that will rock easily and doesn’t make a lot of noise. Even the slightest/softest clicking sounds will wake up a sleeping baby at 3 am when you are desperate to get them back in their crib. Also, make sure the arms of the chair are a good height for you to prop your elbows on and the back of the chair is tall enough to support your head should you fall asleep (this will happen). I don’t really have a specific brand to recommend but here is what our rocker and ottoman look like:
#10- Black out shades: This goes along with the same sleep theme as our sound spa. I make sure that my kids can’t see an ounce of daylight. We live on the western side of our time zone so it doesn’t get dark until super late in the summer (like 10 PM!!) so we have to “trick” our kids into thinking it is night time. Plus it has helped my kiddos sleep in…they don’t know when the sun comes up! Aaaaahhhh…sweet sleep. Again, I don’t have a specific brand to recommend. We got ours at Target but I know most places that carry window treatments would have blackouts.Don’t forget to check out our entire Baby Registry List here. It’s awesome and it’s printable for your convenience.
