Baby Proofing Schedule
– Invest in baby gates to block stairways and other areas you don’t want baby exploring.
I am a firm believer in crib safety. It is basic and simple.
No blankets. No toys. No pillows. Sheets tucked tight. No bumper pads.
I swaddle my babies tightly until they start wiggling out of it…which usually occurs around 2 months. Then I move to the blanket bags to make sure baby is warm. (But not too warm.) As adults, we think babies need blankets because we sleep with blankets. But they have never had a blanket so they don’t know the difference! And it is simply not safe for a baby to have a blanket.
Now…as my kids are 3 and 5 their beds have lots snuggly toys.
Make sure your crib height is the right size for your baby. Lower when appropriate. If baby is sitting up, lower it a notch. When baby is close to pulling himself up, lower it all the way down.
You would sure hate for baby to launch himself out of his crib!!!
(True story…didn’t happen to my kid-TG-but can you imagine?!??)
Happy Safety Day!!
