It is HORRIBLE.
Standing on the scale. Getting weighed and your body fat measured in front of anyone kind of sucks!
BUT…by doing so, you are holding yourself accountable! There is nothing worse than getting back on that scale a few weeks later and not seeing your numbers improve. If you do it in front of a trusted person, you are not only being accountable to yourself, but to someone else, as well!
Salynn Boyles of WebMD Health News states: A “new study suggests that daily weighing in may be better for weight loss and weight control than weekly or less frequent weighing. People in the study who weighed every day lost more weight or maintained their weight better than people who did not.”
PERSONAL TESTIMONY: I had my body fat tested at the beginning of the summer. I was not unhappy with the results, but also not super happy. I started making some changes in my diet and doing more cardio. I had my body fat retested a few weeks ago and lost 1.5%! I did not lose much weight, but was very pleased with the decrease in percentile. I will have my body fat retested in a few weeks to see how it shifts. (I should NOT buy any Halloween candy before then!!)
According to Healthy Living, “Weight loss boils down to burning more calories than you normally use in a day. With more cardio should produce more weight loss. And the more minutes the better when it comes to weight loss. An hour to 90 minutes of aerobic activity per day on most days of the week will affect body weight.”
Bottom line, us moms have a hard enough time keeping our head above the water! Make time each week to get several workouts in. Weigh in at least once a week. Find a trusted friend who will help hold you accountable. Be healthy for yourself and your family!! You will have more energy and by feeling better about yourself!
