We have all seen the cute blog posts on what mom’s really want for Mother’s Day:
-Spa Day (Maybe the day before!)
-Tiffany’s Jewelry instead of a handmade beaded necklace with child slobber all over it. (not going to lie…Tiffany’s would be nice!)
-Kids taken out of the house as soon as they wake up so mommy can sleep in. (That would be fabulous too!)
But-honestly, for Mother’s Day, all I want is to spend the day with my family.
With some stipulations, of course.
Duty. Free. Day.
How fun would it be to have a day off from “mommy” jobs such as dressing the kids, making breakfast, cleaning up the kitchen, changing diapers, and dealing with the temper tantrums?!?
Drink your FULL cup of coffee. Finish your food without having to share your last bite. Sit and watch the kids play while reading the paper without having to jump in to the intervene. Have your kids initiate snuggle time. Have lunch magically made and CLEANED without lifting a finger. Nap Time….for mommy. Long walk outside without needing a chiropractor appointment from helping your son ride a bike the whole time. oooooh, and have a clean house all day…(without me having to clean it!)
I must live in a fantasy world!!
However the day turns out…we are all blessed to be moms. Celebrate YOU.
An open letter to all moms.
Happy Mothers Day!
