I’m one of those people that pops pills no questions asked. Slight headache? Ibuprofen it is. Runny nose? Tylenol Cold and Sinus. Sore throat? NyQuil, always NyQuil (no spoon required).
Obviously I have a real problem when I get sick and am either pregnant or nursing, I am NOT much of a natural remedy person. So the second I feel something coming on I either call my doctor in a panic (day hours) or obsess over Google search results (3 AM kind of hours).
Typically I end up on our favorite breastfeeding resource- KellyMom.com. They have a pretty detailed list of what medications the AAP has classified as safe for nursing Moms and their babies. This is one of my favorite lists because it is organized by illness, not medication.
Something else that is helpful for you natural remedy ladies (good for you!) is KellyMom’s treatment list. They cover lots of topics from breastfeeding related illness/issues to colds and headaches.
Of course, it is always recommended to chat with your doctor before taking medication while pregnant or nursing.
