Yep…there’s my little girl sitting in her jumper watching Dora at 17 months. Embarrassing right? A few days after this I tried to let her “run free” in our bedroom/bathroom area while I took a shower. I ended up with a 3 minute shower that day becasue she decided to crawl in and see what it was all about, fully clothed:
After this I posted an SOS on FaceBook asking my friends for help. What the heck do I do with her when I need to get in the shower?! I got a ton of great responses so I thought I’d share them with you:
– Get ready before your child wakes up, or while they are napping or in bed for the evening. This is probably the easiest solution, but sometimes you have other things to do with these times!
– Let your child take a shower with you. Bring in toys, bath crayons, etc to keep them entertained. This also doubles as “bath” time for them and can save you sometime! I tried this once and it didn’t go over well:
– Put your child in a play yard, pack and play or large gated area with tons of toys and books.
– Use the jumperoo until they are 10. That’s what I thought I’d have to do!
So what did I do? Ended up playing Dora on our iPad and putting a pile of toys in our room while I took a shower with the bathroom door open. She was great for a few days and then I walked into our room one day and found her standing on our bed. After a time out and lots of “no no noooooooooo’s” I found something that works to this day (she’s 2 1/2 now)- put her on our bed, let her sit up against a pillow and tuck her in with blankets, give her the iPad and a snack and let her do what she wants with it. Worked like a charm for us!
What do you do with baby when YOU get ready?
