I am sure you can hardly wait to start taking your baby to classes. I still pour over the Park District Brochure looking for classes to start with my daughter even though I know there is nothing available for her age.
But, is it too soon? Is it worth the money? Is your baby ready??
There are many classes that start for babies at 6 months old. However, while baby may enjoy these classes, these “mommy and me” classes are more beneficial for mommy than baby. It gives mommy an opportunity to get out of the house and interact with other parents with babies.
As exciting as taking your baby to his first class may be; be prepared. It is also a chore. If your baby is crawling around you may spend more time chasing after baby than enjoying the class.
A good idea may be to take a free trial class. See how you and baby respond and then you can make an educated decision if it is a right fit for you.
PS–I am an advocate of taking at least one class per ‘semester’. I think it is a great opportunity to learn about new environments, interact with other babies, and adults, and I am always up for meeting new mommies.
